The Prague and the Szeged super laser centres will establish a joint international, so-called European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) in order to better explore the capacity and opportunities in the field of scientific research of the two cutting-edge research centres.

At the informal meeting of competitiveness ministers held in Helsinki on 5 July 2019, László György, Minister of State for Economic Strategy and Regulation of the Ministry for Innovation and Technology consulted with his colleagues with respect to issues including sustainable growth, the single market, the dynamic digital economy and the integration of modern industry policy.
Refurbishment works have already begun on the Serbian section of the Budapest-Belgrade railway line, while in Hungary preparations for the construction works have also begun. The contract for the comprehensive planning and construction of the Hungarian section was signed with the Chinese-Hungarian consortium last month, Minister for Innovation and Technology László Palkovics said on Friday in Belgrade, at a press conference that was held after the meeting of the Hungarian-Serbian-Chinese task force responsible for the development of the Budapest-Belgrade railway line.
“The reorganisation of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences is reinforcing the freedom and independence of research”, the Minister for Innovation and Technology said in an interview for Hungarian daily Magyar Hírlap.

“The European Commission should interfere less in the application of cohesion funding, not more”, State Secretary Tamás Schanda said, amongst others, during his negotiations in Luxembourg. The Ministry for Innovation and Technology’s State Secretary for European Union Development Projects represented Hungary as a session of the General Affairs Council discussing the funding distribution regulations for the upcoming budgetary period on 25 June 2019, and at the V4+4 negotiations preceding the session.

“The Artificial Intelligence Coalition is drawing up and action plan with the support of the Ministry for Innovation and Technology, which will provide the basis for the National AI Strategy. The package of measures will determine the main tasks, focusing on the fields of the data industry, technological and economic development, and the application of technology”, Minister for Innovation and Technology László Palkovics announced at the plenary session of the AI Coalition on 21 June 2019 in Budapest.
