Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács has told Hungarian television channel M1 that, viewing the system as a whole, the aims are clear: tax reductions and wage increases.
A shortage of labour in Hungary has not emerged because people with qualifications have moved to other countries, but because the Government has created more than 600 thousand jobs in the past few years, Zoltán Kovács said on the public service television news channel M1 on Thursday evening.
“The administration will be compiling its previous proposals in such a way that it assists the work of the current Presidency of the European Union”, Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács said on M1 Hungarian television’s Thursday evening current affairs programme in reply to a question concerning the plan that could serve as a possible alternative to the mandatory relocation quota.
On Wednesday Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács told Hungarian public television channel M1 that it is important to raise awareness of the fact that every EU Member State must comply with the regulations and fulfil its obligations under the Schengen Agreement and the Dublin Regulation.
On Tuesday, Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács told Hungarian public television channel M1 that the mandatory relocation quota is a false measure of unity and solidarity, and it fails to solve problems.
On Thursday, Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács told Hungarian public television channel M1 that over the summer, prior to the referendum campaign, the Socialists used to state that they would be stepping up against the mandatory relocation quotas.
“It is the duty of the Government and Parliament to react to the result of Sunday’s quota referendum”, Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács told Hungarian news agency MTI at the governing parties’ referendum results watch in Budapest.
“There are several issues with relation to which we must clearly redraw the line between Member State sovereignty and the spheres of competence of Brussels institutions”, the Government Spokesperson highlighted on M1 television’s Thursday evening current affairs program.
According to Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács, the Sunday referendum will send a clear message to Brussels: If the people don’t want something then policies cannot be built on it, because “it creates more tension than solutions”.
