“We cannot pass the burden of dealing with the migration situation entirely on to Turkey; the European Union still has its own duties and responsibilities”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó stressed on Tuesday in Budapest prior to a meeting with his Turkish counterpart.
As part of the Government’s Modern Cities Programme, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Mayor of Kecskemét Klaudia Szemereyné Pataki have signed an agreement, according to which the Government will provide Kecskemét with HUF 25 billion for the establishment of an economic development fund which will provide loans to viable commercial enterprises.
Economic momentum driving recent growth can only be maintained if domestic enterprisers are capable of continuous and permanent renewal, Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga said at the presentation ceremony of the Awards for Successful Enterprises.
“In the current funding period the important thing isn’t that the state succeeds in distributing EU funding, but that it distributes it well”, Head of the Prime Minister’s Office János Lázár said prior to a meeting in Budapest on Monday.
In addition to the existing Hungarian Embassy in Paris, Hungary will also be operating temporary consular offices at the locations of the Hungarian national football team’s European Championship matches – Lyon, Bordeaux and Marseille – during the tournament.
On Monday, Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács told public television channel M1 that in certain areas, Hungary and Poland are interdependent: they have certain experiences in common and have the same view on certain issues; therefore they inevitably share each other’s points of view. These areas include migration, the issue of regional economies and energy security as well.
At the invitation of the Government, UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders Michel Forst will be spending a week in Hungary to examine the situation of human rights defenders.
Polish-Hungarian bilateral relations represent a historic alliance, said Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who, following bilateral negotiations on Monday, assured Prime Minister of Poland Beata Szydło that her country can count on Hungary’s solidarity in relation to any double standards being applied to it.
“Both Hungarian exports and the foreign trade surplus broke records in 2015”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade said at a press conference on Monday with relation to the latest data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH).
The central sub system of the state budget closed the month of January 2016 with a surplus of HUF 92.2bn. Favourable data highlight prudent fiscal policy, as the central budget, Social Security Funds and Extra Budgetary State Funds registered surpluses of HUF 17.6bn, HUF 41.2bn and HUF 33.4bn, respectively.
