Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga and representatives of several institutions and car industry companies active in industrial R&D have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on building and operating a test track for alternative technology vehicles. As the Minister pointed out, Hungary can only be an initiator and active participant of Europe’s industrial revival if it can contribute to the development of the latest industrial procedures in a constructive way.
In an interview published on 18 May in the weekly magazine Demokrata, State Secretary at the Hungarian Ministry of Justice Pál Völner said that Hungary must take a stand for its independence, because if it gives in it may lose its sovereignty within 15 years.
The Hungarian Government shares the opinion of the European Commission concerning the majority of recommendations formulated for Hungary. These recommendations point out general strategic goals rather than concrete measures. The current proposals are more balanced in comparison to those in former years, and they better reflect achievements of the dialogue with the Commission during the European semester.

In Parliament on Tuesday Parliamentary State Secretary at the Ministry of Interior Károly Kontrát stressed that the aim of amending the legislation on entry and residence regulations for third country citizens and on the country’s border regulations is to ensure that no migrant can stay in Hungary illegally.
In Sofia, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó held bilateral talks with Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Daniel Mitov, during the course of which the two ministers also discussed the Government of Hungary’s Schengen 2.0 action plan.

“More and more people in Europe want to talk openly and directly about the migration problem and increasing numbers of people feel that the mindless state of affairs that has been in existence for months must come to an end”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó stressed in a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI on Wednesday, in which he spoke about statements made during the meeting of Council of Europe Foreign Ministers in Sofia.
The migration crisis is not just a temporary humanitarian challenge, but the precursor of a mass migration movement, the State Secretary for EU Affairs at the Prime Minister’s Office stated at a forum in Budapest on Wednesday.
