In the interests of protecting the health of the Hungarian population, at its session on 31 January 2020 the government-established Operational Group for Protection against the Coronavirus Epidemic decided on the following Action Plan.
With regard to the intensified migration pressure on Hungary’s Schengen border section, on 20 January 2020 Deputy Prime Minister-Interior Minister Dr Sándor Pintér convened an extraordinary meeting for police chiefs in Bácsalmás. The event was attended by the Ministry of Interior’s Director General for Public Security, the National Commissioner of the Police, the Budapest and County police chiefs, and senior police officers of equivalent status.

Hungary and Italy share the same views on the protection of European borders, and about how to prevent masses of people, terrorists and unwelcome individuals from entering the territory of the European Union, Minister of Interior Sándor Pintér said on Thursday at a press conference held in Budapest after he had official talks with his Italian counterpart Matteo Salvini.
“The police will continue to do everything possible in the interests of the security of the country and Hungarian families during the Christmas holidays, and accordingly will assure the protection of the border with continued vigilance and intensity”, The Ministry of Interior’s Parliamentary State Secretary said at a press conference in Budapest on Wednesday.
