“Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has written a letter wishing Hungary’s Jewish community a Happy Hanukkah”, the Prime Minister’s Press Chief, Bertalan Havasi told Hungarian news agency MTI on Tuesday.
“The increasingly cold days and increasingly long nights instil in all of us the desire for light and celebration. The candlelight that burns with increasing brightness day-by-day not only reinforces family and community togetherness, but also proves the retaining power of religion and traditions”, states the letter, which Viktor Orbán sent to President of the Hungary's Autonomous Orthodox Jewish Community Eduárd Deblinger, Executive rabbi of the Unified Hungarian Israelite Community Slomó Köves, President of the Federation of Jewish Communities in Hungary András Heisler, and President of the Jewish Heritage of Hungary Public Endowment György Szabó.
“As Prime Minister of Hungary, I respectfully salute you on the occasion of this Festival of Lights and wish all members of Hungary’s Jewish community a peaceful and blessed Hanukkah”, Mr. Orbán wrote in the letter.
