Prime Minister Viktor Orbán visited the Operative task Force on Saturday in advance of the expected snowfall on Saturday evening and Sunday.
In a video aired on Hungarian M1 television, the Prime Minister said he had ordered Minster of Interior Sándor Pintér to mobilise all possible manpower and equipment to help people who have set out from home despite the warnings.
“We are Hungarians, some of us will have done so”, he noted.
According to the forecast issued by the Hungarian Meteorological Service, the rain is expected to change to various types of snow beginning on Saturday afternoon, while gusty winds could cause high snow drifts in some areas. Driving conditions are expected to worsen rapidly and to a major extent on Saturday afternoon, with a gradual improvement forecast from Sunday morning.
