Prime Minister Viktor Orbán expressed his condolences in a letter to Egyptian President Abdul-Fattah al-Sisi over the ruthless killing of 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians committed by the jihadist organisation Islamic State.

The Prime Minister expressed his sympathy in the name of the Hungarian people and offered his condolences to the Egyptian President, the Egyptian people, and to the families of the victims.

In his letter, Viktor Orbán stressed that this unjustifiable deed does not only contradict all religions, but also the basic values of humanity. The Hungarian government is committed to supporting all efforts aimed against extremist groups and supports the Egyptian government in its fight against terrorism – he emphasized.

The Libyan branch of the Islamic State made the video showing the brutal execution of 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians they held captive. In retaliation, on Monday the Egyptian air force bombed the Libyan stands of the Islamic State.
