The Prime Minister’s Press Chief Bertalan Havasi has said that in Budapest’s Parliament Building on Wednesday Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Governor of the State of Indiana Eric Holcomb met to discuss the further expansion of economic relations, and Hungary’s improved business environment.
At the meeting, which was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó and Indiana’s Secretary of Commerce Jim Schellinger, it was recognised that Hungarian trade with the United States has expanded dynamically over the past decade.
The USA is Hungary’s principal trade partner outside the European Union, and there are over 1,700 American-led businesses operating in Hungary, employing one hundred thousand people. In the meeting it was stated that most of the fifty largest American multinational companies are also present in Hungary, including the most important corporations from Indiana, and this clearly indicates the level of investor confidence in Hungary. Mr. Havasi said that special mention was made of Hungary’s low rate of tax, which further improves the business environment.
