Prime Minister Viktor Orbán used the world’s largest social media website to congratulate German Chancellor Angela Merkel on her re-election on Sunday.
The Prime Minister posted on Facebook in Hungarian and German: “Budapest congratulates you”.
The centre-right CDU/CSU party alliance led by Angela Merkel received the highest share of votes in Sunday’s parliamentary (Bundestag) elections, but its level of support fell significantly, while that of its coalition partner, the Social Democratic Party (SPD) dropped to an all-time low. Meanwhile the first non-official results after the election indicate that the third largest party in the Bundestag will be the AfD, which is entering parliament for the first time.
