Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief, has informed kormany.hu that, in recognition of the result for the Hungarian alliance in the Romanian general election, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had “doffed his hat” in written congratulations to Hunor Kelemen, President of the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (RMDSZ) and Zsolt Bíró, President of the Hungarian Civic Party (MKP).
In his letter the Prime Minister pointed out that the result achieved in the election is the joint accomplishment of the entire Hungarian community in Romania, and the cooperation between the two organisations can serve as a useful example for all Hungarians. Mr. Orbán expressed the hope that the elected representatives will be able to make good use of the trust which has been vested in them by Hungarian voters, and that through strong representation of the interests of the Hungarian community they will contribute to the better enforcement of the rights of that community.
The Deputy State Secretary heading the Press Office of the Prime Minister said that the Prime Minister had reassured the leaders of the RMDSZ and the MKP that the Government of Hungary will continue to use all available means to support their work and Hungarians in the Carpathian Basin.
