Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has sent a telegram to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani expressing the condolences of the Hungarian people to the victims of the major earthquake that has hit the region, the Prime Minister’s Press Chief told the kormany.hu government news portal.
“It was with deep sadness that I learned of the earthquake that has caused devastation in the western region of Iran. Our hearts are with the people of Iran in these difficult times, and with the brave heroes who are working to find and assist the survivors of this tragic catastrophe”, Mr. Orbán wrote.
According to the latest news reports, the earthquake that hit the area around the Iran-Iraq border on Sunday night, and which measured 7.3 on the Richter scale, claimed over four hundred lives and injured over seven thousand people.
