On Thursday morning in the Carmelite Monastery in Budapest, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán received a delegation of the Chinese Fudan University which set up operations in Hungary.
At the meeting, Xu Ningsheng, Rector of the Shanghai-based Fudan University informed the Hungarian Prime Minister in detail about the institution’s operation and plans. On the four campuses of the university, at present there are 11 faculties with 35 departments and 17 associated hospitals, Bertalan Havasi, the Deputy State Secretary heading the Press Office of the Prime Minister informed the Hungarian news agency MTI.
In 2017 the National Bank of Hungary and Fudan University entered into a cooperation agreement, one of the purposes of which was for Fudan University to set up a campus in Hungary as well. It is located in the refurbished building of the former Buda Castle City Hall in Úri utca which, under the name Wise Castle, accommodates multiple knowledge centres.
In the autumn of 2018, in the interest of promoting cooperation in higher education, Hungary and China reached an agreement on supporting the activities of Fudan University in Hungary, in particular in the areas of economics, social sciences and information technology, the press chief pointed out.
