Respect for nations, the preservation of Christian culture, protection of the borders and action against migration were among the issues discussed at the meeting of Prime Minister-Fidesz President Viktor Orbán and Mart Helme, Estonian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Interior, Chairman of the Conservative People’s Party of Estonia (EKRE).

The meeting was also attended by Minister of State-Vice-President of Fidesz Katalin Novák.

Mart Helme said, in many respects, his party looks upon Hungary and the V4 cooperation as a model as these countries represent very important European core values during the debates on the continent’s future.

He agreed with Mr Orbán that it is important to support the national economy, culture and education as well as to protect Christian culture and to effectively defend the external borders. Parallel with this, it is necessary to tighten immigration policy and to support European families in the interest of solving our demographic problems, the parties pointed out.

At the meeting, the parties stressed that, instead of ideological fault lines, Europe should concentrate on regional cooperation, for which the unity and ever-increasing interest representation capacity of the Visegrád countries is a good example, Bertalan Havasi, the Deputy State Secretary heading the Press Office of the Prime Minister said.
