Marking the approaching Jewish New Year, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán expressed his best wishes in a letter addressed to the President of the Federation of Hungarian Jewish Communities (MAZSIHISZ), which has been published on the organisation’s website.
In his letter addressed to his Jewish fellow citizens, the Prime Minister writes that now, when it is becoming increasingly difficult to protect our borders in Europe, it is especially important that we strengthen our cohesion and common foundations.
In his letter conveying his New Year’s greetings, Mr Orbán points out that as in the Book of Genesis we are told that the Almighty blessed the seventh day, so He also marks out and blesses certain periods in the calendar.
Press Chief of the Prime Minister’s Office Bertalan Havasi told Hungarian news agency MTI that the Prime Minister has addressed similar letters to the Executive Rabbi of the Unified Hungarian Jewish Congregation Slomó Köves and to the President of the Hungarian Autonomous Orthodox Jewish Community Eduárd Deblinger.
