Travelling from Shanghai, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán arrived in the capital of Finland where he will attend the two-day congress of the European People’s Party (EPP), Bertalan Havasi, the Deputy State Secretary heading the Press Office of the Prime Minister informed the special correspondent of the Hungarian news agency MTI.
According to his information, during the break of the first plenary meeting beginning this afternoon, the Hungarian Prime Minister will have talks with his Croatian counterpart Andrej Plenkovic, and host Prime Minister Juha Sipila will also receive Mr Orbán at the official residence of the Prime Minister of Finland.
The debate of the European People’s Party’s two candidates for the post of president of the European Commission – Alexander Stubb and Manfred Weber – will take place on Wednesday evening; attendees will vote on the candidate’s person on Thursday.
Mr Havasi pointed out: Mr Orbán has already made it clear several times that in the present situation he supports the candidacy of the Bavarian Manfred Weber.
The Hungarian Prime Minister will address the EPP Congress on Thursday, on the second working day of the meeting, the Deputy State Secretary heading the Press Office of the Prime Minister said.
