Prime Minister Viktor Orbán congratulated Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu on his party’s victory at the last elections in a letter.

The Hungarian Prime Minister assured Mr Netanyahu of the government’s commitment to continue improving the relations between Hungary and Israel – Press Chief of the Prime Minister’s Office Bertalan Havasi said, adding that Mr Orbán invited his Israeli counterpart for a visit to Budapest.

At the parliamentary elections held on Tuesday, Mr Netanyahu’s party, Likud overtook its largest contestant, the Zionist Union – formerly thought to be more favoured – by six mandates. According to Prime Minister Netanyahu, his new cabinet will be formed within two to three weeks.
