In Rome on Saturday Prime Minister Viktor Orbán held talks with Christian leaders from the Middle East.
Also attending the meeting were: Ignatius Ephrem Joseph III Yonan, Patriarch of the Syriac Catholic Church; Bechara Boutros al-Rahi, Maronite Patriarch of Antioch; Jean-Clément Jeanbart, Archbishop of the Melkite Greek Catholic Archeparchy of Aleppo; Ignatius Aphrem II, Patriarch of the Syriac Orthodox Church; and Anba Gabriel, Bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Church.
The focus of the discussions was on the persecution of Christians, as currently Christians in the Middle East are the most vulnerable people in the world. At the meeting Mr. Orbán declared that Hungary is acting against the persecution of Christians, and is ready to support these communities, whose existence is endangered.
