Prime Minister Viktor Orbán sent his greetings in a letter to Israelite leaders in Hungary on the occasion of the Jewish New Year.
The Prime Minister sent greetings to Eduárd Delinger, President of the Hungarian Autonomous Orthodox Israelite Community, András Heisler, President of the Federation of Hungarian Jewish Communities, Slomó Köves, Chief Rabbi of the Unified Hungarian Jewish Congregation, and György Szabó, President of the Foundation for Hungarian Jewish Heritage, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief stated.
In his message, the Prime Minister said the moments before the start of a new year are opportunities equally for remembering, taking stock and making plans for the future. “I am happy that today Central Europe’s largest Jewish community is living its everyday life in peace and security, and is even organising cultural and sports events with which it attracts its brothers and sisters living all over the world to Hungary. I am convinced that also today the firm sound of the shofar is urging the Hungarian community as well as the Jewish community in Hungary to be proud of their values, and to build a safe future on the foundations of their unique heritage,” Mr Orbán wrote.
The Prime Minister wrote in conclusion: “May you have peace, advancement and blessing in your lives also in the New Year. May you have a good and sweet year.”
