At a bilateral meeting in Suzhou, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán expressed his gratitude to Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang for the excellent Chinese-Hungarian cooperation. The main topic of the discussion was the potential expansion of Hungarian agricultural products’ export to China.
Severe economic crisis, from which the country has managed to recover almost miraculously, and in this process China has been an excellent partner: even in difficult times it offered its help to Hungary to get back on the path of growth and development.
Mr. Orbán said that Hungary is interested in a multipolar world order, in renminbi (the Chinese national currency) becoming a world currency, and he also emphasised that Hungary supports a close cooperation between the European Union and China. The Chinese partner showed openness to Hungary’s request concerning the expansion of Hungarian agricultural products to China.
Also on the meeting’s agenda were the construction of the Budapest-Belgrade railway line, which is mutually considered as a symbolic project of strategic importance, and the prospect of launching a new flight between Hungary and China. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán also informed his counterpart about the serious challenges Hungary will have to face in the coming months.
