After 2010, the Government of Hungary took it upon itself, as its most important responsibility, to reinforce Hungary: a country in a debilitated state. As part of this, it was essential as a key priority to boost Hungary’s immune system, a parallel drawn by the Prime Minister between the work of the Béres Family and the work of the Hungarian governments in office in his speech delivered at the inauguration of the new manufacturing division of the pharmaceutical company Béres Gyógyszergyár Zrt. The total cost of the project is in excess of half a billion forints.
Out of a population of 10 million, a mere 3.6 million were in employment, and only 1.8 million were taxpayers in 2010 which, the Prime Minister takes the view, is a sure enough recipe for disaster. He then added, we may finally consider the Hungarian economy fully reinforced and consolidated if minimum five million people are active and in employment.
The Prime Minister stressed that inflation has been curbed, household utility bills have been reduced, and families in increasingly large numbers – hundreds of thousands – are being rescued from the debt trap. He reiterated that the agreement recently signed with the European Union will open a new era in the history of the economy – by creating scope for the launch of a massive economic development programme – as 60 per cent of the funds will be invested in the Hungarian economy, in such a way that businesses qualifying as large in Hungary but only falling into the medium-sized category by European standards, including Béres, may claim a fair share of the available development funds.
The Prime Minister said that the new plant of Béres about to be opened is yet another station in the growth of a successful Hungarian company; Béres Zrt. has grown from a family enterprise of 10 people to a company group of 300, and the name Béres has by now become synonymous amongst Hungarians with health.
Viktor Orbán stressed that the Széchenyi Prize was awarded in recognition of the oeuvre of József Béres, and the Béres Drops officially became a registered Hungarian speciality, a „hungaricum” in 2013.
Viktor Orbán announced that before the inauguration of the plant, three subjects were discussed with the Béres Pharmaceutical Company: the possibilities of the construction of another production site, the Hungarian State’s intention to grant 300 hectares of land for the enlargement of the Szolnok Industrial Park and that fiscal resources would be allocated for the construction of a motorway or a national main road between the county seat and the capital by the end of the electoral cycle.
