Based upon the recommendation of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Hungary’s President of the Republic conferred the Hungarian Order of Merit Officer’s Cross upon Princess Gloria von Thurn und Taxis in recognition of her consistent support of Hungary and her activities serving Hungary’s interests.
In recognition of her consistent support of Hungary and her activities serving Hungary’s interests, the Hungarian Order of Merit Officer’s Cross has been conferred upon Princess Gloria von Thurn und Taxis. The decoration was handed over by Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén in the Library of the Carmelite Monastery in Budapest on Wednesday.
Gloria von Thurn und Taxis was born in Stuttgart, Germany as a descendant of one of the most significant Hungarian aristocratic families. Her mother is Countess Beatrix Széchenyi, great-great grandchild of the greatest Hungarian Count István Széchenyi.
The princess sympathises with Hungary’s politics, and expresses her support in influential circles as well. With her contacts, activities in public life and useful advice, she renders a valuable service to Hungary. She speaks our mother tongue well, and driven by her commitment to Hungary a few years ago she requested Hungarian citizenship.
