According to Minister of State Levente Magyar from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann is again venting the anger caused by his own ability to act on the Hungarian Government and the Prime Minister.
“The member states of the European Union agree on six points with relation to the migration crisis”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó told the press following an informal meeting of EU Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Luxembourg on Saturday.
Viktor Orbán consulted several times overnight via telephone with Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann concerning the latest developments in the refugee crisis, and the two politicians will meet for bilateral discussion next week, the Hungarian Prime Minister said at an early afternoon press conference on Saturday.
“What took place in Hungary overnight is the result of two things: the European Union’s failed migration policy and irresponsible statements from European politicians”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said on Saturday prior to an informal meeting of EU Ministers.
Some 4500 migrants were transported by bus to the Austrian border overnight, The Minister of Interior’s Parliamentary State Secretary Károly Kontrát announced at a press conference on Saturday morning.
“Negotiations are underway as to why Austria has to all intents and purposes closed the Hegyeshalom border crossing station”, Minister of Prime Minister’s Office János Lázár said in a statement to the press on the migration situation on Saturday morning at Kötcse, the site of the 1989 pan-European picnic.
Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács is at the Hungarian-Austrian border to gain first-hand information on the status and fate of illegal immigrants leaving Hungary.
„No further buses will be transporting migrants from the Keleti Station to the Austrian border”, Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács told Hungarian news agency MTI at the border crossing station of Hegyeshalom on the Austrian border early Saturday morning. „No such plan exists”, he said.
The central operational corps decided to direct buses to the Keleti Railway Station and the M1 motorway during the course of the night, and to offer the migrants staying there transport to the Hegyeshalom border crossing station, János Lázár, the Minister heading the Prime Minister’s Office announced at his extraordinary press conference held on Friday evening in the Parliament Building, after the operational corps had a meeting upon the instruction of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán with regard to the migration situation. The central operational corps will continue to remain in session throughout the night.
The Czech, Polish and Slovakian head of government have stood by Hungary in a joint statement, which the Prime Ministers of the four Visegrád countries adopted at an extraordinary meeting on the migration situation held in Prague on Friday. The Heads of Government once again rejected proposals for compulsory immigration quotas.
