Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó and Chilean Deputy Foreign Minister Edgardo Riveros met in Budapest on Monday to discuss the further development of economic relations.
On 11 April 2016, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Dr. László Szabó received his Chilean counterpart, Edgardo Riveros, within the framework of a political consultation. The Chilean diplomat also paid a courtesy visit to Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó and Deputy Speaker of Parliament Dr. János Latorcai.
In response to a government proposal, on Tuesday Parliament repealed legislation on Sunday as a day of rest. The Cabinet has said that it recommended this course of action because over the past year the issue has proved to be divisive. In spite of the results achieved, the Government has failed to convince the public of the legislation’s benefits.
In Parliament On Tuesday, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán received Nicholas Gage, the Greek-born American writer and journalist.
In connection with talks on the anti-terrorism action plan, Antal Rogán, Head of Cabinet of the Prime Minister, explained that he has asked opposition parties not to underestimate the extent of the terrorist threat.
“Analyses are important, and opinions are important, but how people perceive this is after all the most important”, Antal Rogán said in his justification of the decision.
In Parliament on Monday, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán presented a decision by the National Security Council. He said that investigative teams will be formed within the Police and the National Tax Authority (NAV), and their task will be to individually analyse the Hungarian strands in the “Panama Papers” case which have emerged from international sources.
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán spoke about the importance of sport and self-respect at the inauguration of the new training centre of the Diósgyőr Metal Works Physical Exercise Club (DVTK) in Miskolc. The training centre, built near the Diósgyőr football stadium, was inaugurated on Sunday.
At a ceremony in Szolnok on Saturday, the rebuilt Tiszaliget Stadium was inaugurated, after almost four years of work. The opening ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
The Prime Minister regards the proposal put forward by the European Commission for a mandatory resettlement quota as an open attack on the sovereignty of nation states. The proposal’s adoption must therefore be prevented, he said.
