Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó met with Bosnian Foreign Minister Mirko Šarović to discuss bilateral relations on the side-lines of the meeting of Chinese and Central-Eastern European commerce ministers in Ningpo, eastern China.
At a public discussion held prior to the Prague European Summit debate between the prime ministers of the four Visegrád Group (V4) countries, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that “The real challenge confronting Europe today is that the continent’s states have different notions of the future, as the example of the migration crisis clearly shows”.
Brussels’ migrant policy focuses on the taking in of illegal migrants, while there is lesser focus on the protection of the external borders, the sending back of economic migrants, the observance of the Schengen rules and the coordination of issues of internal security, György Bakondi, the Prime Minister’s chief advisor for internal security said.
At a meeting of Chinese and Central and Eastern European ministers of economy, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó held talks with Romanian Minister of Economy Costin Borc. The two ministers said that Hungary and Romania regard each other as strategic partners.
In the Hungarian Parliament, following bilateral negotiations in Budapest on 6 June 2016, Hungarian and Israeli Ministers of Justice László Trócsányi and Ayelet Shaked talked to journalists about the importance of combating hate speech and terrorism.
Hungary’s application for observer membership of the Council of the Baltic Seas States (CBSS) was accepted on 8 June 2016.
While in Kingpo, the Hungarian Foreign Minister signed several agreements that according to Mr. Szijjártó could see Hungarian food industry exports to China exceed USD 100 million this year.
“The proposal announced on Tuesday with regard to the migration situation by European Commissioner for Migration Dimitris Avramopoulos is astounding, and Hungary rejects it accordingly”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó told Hungarian news agency MTI on Wednesday.
