The Super Cup final between Bayern München and Sevilla will be held be on Thursday evening in the Puskás Arena subject to maximum-safety public health regulations, the head of the duty centre of the Operational Group responsible for the fight against the coronavirus epidemic said at an online press conference held on Thursday.
Tibor Lakatos asked supporters to wear face masks already upon entry into the stadium. He said a large health care staff will be present in the stadium where tents have been erected for the further examination of guests filtered out upon entry due to elevated body temperatures or symptoms.
Only persons forming part of a group such as family members and friends will be allowed to sit together, and rows will not be filled with spectators, the Brigadier General said.
Mostly Hungarian supporters bought tickets for the match, in addition to a small contingent of Spanish supporters and around 1,500 German supporters. Foreign supporters are allowed to enter Hungary in possession of negative PCR test results – with the tests having been performed less than three days previously – and will be required to leave Hungary within 72 hours, Mr Lakatos pointed out.
He added that supporters arriving from abroad will be kept together; the Spanish will arrive on chartered flights and a designated fleet of buses will transport them around the city, while a separate parking lot has been designated for German supporters.
The Brigadier General asked Hungarian supporters to observe the rules that have been specifically determined for this event by the football associations and staff members of the National Centre for Public Health.
Team members, coaches and the technical personnel of the teams, too, have undergone thorough screening. UEFA will keep them in “a bubble” during the entire term of their stay in Hungary, they are not allowed to come into contact with anyone who does not have a negative coronavirus test, and their physical condition is monitored continuously, Mr Lakatos said.
A police liaison officer with a negative test result has been assigned to each team; they will liaise between the teams and the police command staff securing the event.
He indicated that due to the match, members of the public should expect traffic restrictions.
In answer to a question from the press, he said the government had reinstated border controls at the Schengen internal borders, and so police officers are serving also at the Austrian-Hungarian border on an ongoing basis to ensure that only those enter the country who are entitled to do so on the basis of the relevant government decree.
In answer to another question, he said despite the fact that members of the public are now required to wear face masks in more places than before – for instance, not only on board trains and buses, but also in waiting rooms – they acknowledge this with the seriousness the new measures warrant, and the police are finding few irregularities.
The vast majority of citizens are complying with this obligation, he added.
In connection with the monitoring of entertainment venues, he highlighted that the police are not checking compliance with the rules as part of raids, but continuously, throughout their daily service.
In answer to another question, he said those who have already undergone coronavirus infection are allowed to enter the country, subject to prior testing and the presentation of a certificate.
