On Wednesday, Chief Security Advisor of the Prime Minister György Bakondi told public television channel M1 that the increased level of police preparedness and related security measures are needed as long as the threat of terrorism exists.
Mr. Bakondi explained that these measures can be grouped into two categories. The first one includes tasks of the police forces, which are aimed at deterring and catching those trying to cross the borders illegally, as well as other measures considered necessary because of the illegal migration that is still an issue in neighbouring countries.
The second group entails increased security measures in public areas – such as the presence of armed police and military forces in increased numbers – which have been introduced as a consequence of the declaration of the third level of terrorism threat, the Chief Security Advisor said.
