Due to the violation of the rules relating to the wearing of face masks, in the past 24 hours the police have been compelled to take action in 75 instances, the deputy head of the duty centre of the Operational Group responsible for the fight against the coronavirus epidemic said at an online press conference held on Wednesday.
Lt. Colonel Róbert Kiss said on Tuesday, due to the violation of the protective measures in effect, the police took action in eight instances because passengers travelling on public transport were not or were incorrectly wearing face masks, while in another 67 instances the police were required to take action because the rules of protective measures were violated on the premises of commercial outlets, public institutions and in other places defined in the relevant legislation. In the case of the former, all eight instances resulted in cautions, while in the case of the latter, 57 persons were cautioned, three were given onsite fines and seven persons were prosecuted.
Mr Kiss said since the entry into force of the government resolution on the protective measures of the state of disease control preparedness on 21 September, the police have taken action on board public transport vehicles in 433 instances, while on the premises of commercial outlets in 807 instances. He indicated that in the vast majority of cases, the violators had been cautioned, in 1,061 instances in total.
He stressed that in the past 24 hours the police had taken action against 30 drivers due to the violation of the rules relating to the designated transit route; in 22 instances, they imposed onsite fines, while they prosecuted the remaining 8 persons.
During the same period, the police have checked compliance with the rules relating to compulsory home quarantine 10,007 times; on Tuesday, 3,707 persons were ordered to retire to home quarantine. This means that at present 23,815 persons are in quarantine, while 1,104 persons have registered for the mobile application that enables online monitoring, the Lt. Colonel listed.
According to his information, since the reinstatement of border controls, 108,996 lorries have transited through Hungary, while another 111,016 have entered Hungary as their destination.
Entry and exit at the border crossing stations are smooth. In cargo traffic on the entry side there is a three-hour wait at the Röszke motorway border crossing station, while on the entry side at the Tompa border crossing station, too, there is a three-hour wait. Those who intend to enter Hungary at Beregsurány should expect a two-hour delay, Mr Kiss said.
