So far the police have taken action due to the violation of the protective measures laid down in the government decree in effect since last week in 599 instances, the deputy head of the duty centre of the Operational Group responsible for the fight against the coronavirus epidemic said at an online press conference held on Friday.

According to Lt. Colonel Róbert Kiss’s information, in the past 24 hours, the police have been required to take action in 43 instances due to the disruption of public services and the violation of the protective measures in commercial outlets and public institutions, while in another 20 instances police action has been taken due to the non-wearing or incorrect wearing of face masks on public transport. The latter included 16 cautions, while in the other instances the violators were prosecuted.

On Thursday, the police took action in shops, catering establishments and on the premises of other institutions in 23 instances due to the non-observance of the protective measures, including 17 cautions, three onsite fines and three prosecutions.

Since the entry into force of the government decree on the protective measures of the state of disease control preparedness on 21 September, the police have taken action in 599 instances due to the violation of the protective measures, the Lt. Colonel added.

He also said on Thursday the police were required to take action due to the violation of the rules relating to transit through the territory of the country in 58 instances.

Mr Kiss informed the public about the latest quarantine situation; on Thursday, 2,787persons were ordered to retire to compulsory home quarantine, including 556 persons entering the territory of the country, and at present, 22,906 persons are in quarantine. On Thursday, the police checked compliance with the rules relating to quarantine 11,290 times. 1,182 persons registered for the mobile phone application that serves the electronic monitoring of quarantine.

Since 4 March, 472 criminal procedures have been instituted in connection with the epidemic, and 89 suspects have been questioned, he added.

Regarding border traffic, he said there is a three-hour wait in cargo traffic at the Röszke motorway border crossing station, while there is a two-hour wait in incoming passenger traffic at Beregsurány.
