This year the number of people illegally crossing the external Schengen border section of Hungary’s borders has exceeded seventeen thousand.
By midnight on Tuesday 17,008 illegal border crossings had been recorded. According to a chart published on the police website, this number was 64,770 at the same time last year, and 6,484 the previous year.
According to the report, on Tuesday 157 people were apprehended for illegal border crossing. In the past 24 hours, police prevented 119 people from illegally crossing the Hungarian-Serbian border.
