On Thursday, Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister György Bakondi told public television channel M1 that more than 100.000 migrants had arrived in the European Union by mid-February this year.
The Chief Security Advisor said that this figure is higher than the total number of migrants recorded over the first six months of last year.
Mr. Bakondi also pointed out that large groups of migrants have also appeared close to the Hungarian-Romanian-Serbian border section: on one occasion, a group of 150 migrants crossed the border between Serbia and Romania at the same time for example.
On Wednesday, more than one hundred people were arrested for attempted illegal border crossing, he said.
