Migrants are becoming increasingly violent, the Prime Minister’s chief advisor for internal security said on the Monday evening programme of the public service television news channel M1 based on the incidents experienced in refugee camps in Hungary in the last few days.

György Bakondi reiterated that violent acts committed by migrants have become increasingly frequent recently.

Last week migrants protested in groups for days in Kiskunhalas. There was also physical violence: last Tuesday a migrant from Afghanistan bit a piece out of a fellow-migrant’s ear. On Monday a group of migrants started a protest at the Békéscsaba Guarded Refugee Reception Centre. There was no physical violence there, and asylum workers and the police succeeded in restoring order by the afternoon.

The chief advisor for internal security pointed out on the programme of M1 that there are open camps for the accommodation of migrants. There are additionally three sealed and guarded reception centres in Békéscsaba, Kiskunhalas and Nyírbátor. The latter facilities serve to accommodate those who were apprehended by the authorities due to illegal border-crossing or other criminal offences. They submitted asylum requests in order to stop their immediate expulsion from the country, and are required to remain in the guarded camps until the assessment of their requests.

These refugees would, however, like to move on to Britain or Germany within the shortest possible time, and they behave increasingly more aggressively towards anyone who tries to stop them, Mr Bakondi said. He added: they will take firm action against any migrant groups who disregard the laws of Hungary as the laws apply to everyone, including migrants in the territory of the country.
