György Bakondi, Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, has told Hungarian news agency MTI that more and more violent acts can be seen in European refugee camps – including in Hungarian camps – and the case of the Algerian man who attacked an armed guard in the Kiskunhalas closed reception centre on Thursday also conforms to this trend.
Mr. Bakondi said that the migrant was supposed to be taken to a hearing at around 10 a.m., and in accordance with regulations armed guards tried to handcuff him. He did not allow them to do this, struggling against them aggressively, and even kicking one of them.
Eventually the man was successfully handcuffed, but after he was put into the vehicle he started raging and kicking again; therefore gas spray had to be used to stop him.
Mr. Bakondi added that the Algerian migrant was taken to a hearing, where he was found guilty of assaulting a public officer and breach of the peace.
Mr. Bakondi pointed out that Hungarian and European law applies equally to everyone.
