The number of those currently waiting on the farther side of the sealed Macedonian-Greek border may be as high as a hundred thousand, and we have no accurate information on their plans, goals and future reactions. This is why it was necessary to introduce a state of migration crisis.
János Lázár made clear at the 42nd Governmentinfo press conference that Hungary’s security cannot be placed at risk, and the Government has therefore instated a state of crisis.
With reference to the volatility of the situation, the Minister said: the Government made its decision on the basis of the principle of „better safe than sorry”.
Mr Lázár also reiterated the Interior Minister’s announcement made on Wednesday to the effect that while they are not starting the construction of the fence on the Hungarian-Romanian border just yet, the necessary preparations are being made, and as a result, should the need arise, the fence can be completed within just ten days.
