The Hungarian Government does not only respect the Curia’s decision regarding the Sunday day of rest, but also the referendum initiative, János Lázár said.

The Minister pointed out: they accept the Curia’s decision which opens the way for the socialists to collect signatures. The socialist party is now collecting signatures in order for tens of thousands of people to have to work on Sunday, Mr Lázár added.

He told the press that a debate on this issue is yet to be conducted within Fidesz, but personally he is among those who are opposed to tens of thousand of people having to work on Sunday. It is good if society debates this issue, he remarked.

The Minister also stated that, parallel with the Sunday closure of shops, retail sales are increasing, and the percentage of those working in the sector is on the rise as well.
