From Friday, Hungarian nationals will be allowed to enter Hungary from Croatia in passenger traffic without the obligation of having to retire to compulsory home quarantine, a staff member of the duty centre of the Operational Group responsible for the containment of the coronavirus epidemic said at an online press conference held on Thursday.

Police Lt. Colonel Róbert Kiss added that as a result of the relaxing of restrictive measures, Hungarian nationals are allowed to enter Hungary from the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Serbia and Slovenia without compulsory home quarantine also at present.

The Operational Group’s duty centre is continuously analysing the latest epidemic data and the measures implemented in neighbouring countries, and when necessary makes recommendations for the relaxing or suspension of restrictive measures, he said.

There are 9,167 persons in compulsory home quarantine; 783 of them are being monitored electronically, with the aid of the mobile phone application, he highlighted.

The number of criminal procedures instituted in connection with the epidemic has risen to 437, including 125 due to scaremongering, 29 due to the threat of public endangerment, 132 due to fraud and 28 due to the violation of disease control regulations, he listed.

In answer to questions, Mr Kiss said health care workers, soldiers, defence workers, members of the law enforcement agencies, employees of the National Tax and Customs Administration and civil servants are still only allowed to leave Hungary with ministerial permission.

With the lifting of the state of danger, this restriction is expected to be suspended, he added.

In answer to another question, he said hospital commanders will continue to perform their current duties, including the monitoring of compliance with disease control measures and the supervision of supplies of protective equipment, also after the end of the state of danger, during the state of health care preparedness.

The Lt. Colonel also mentioned that clubs for the elderly are allowed to reopen, provided that members observe the rule relating to social distancing.
