On Thursday György Bakondi, Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, told public television channel M1 that to combat terrorism more attention and a more intensive exchange of information between secret services is needed.
In an interview with public broadcaster Kossuth Rádió, Mr. Bakondi emphasised that France is in a difficult situation, because the state of emergency in place since the terrorist attacks of last November means that its security forces are exhausted and are less responsive. This is also proven by the fact that the criminal who killed a police officer this week was already known to the secret services. Mr. Bakondi pointed out that the French prime minister warned about the possibility of further terrorist attacks.
The Chief Security Advisor said that, in order to improve security and to protect Europe, decisive measures must be implemented: Europe’s external borders must be protected, and only those truly entitled to refugee status should be allowed to enter the continent. He stressed that migration routes are being reactivated: every day more than three thousand people arrive in Italy from the Libyan coast, and movement can also be observed from the direction of Greece and Turkey towards Italy.
