As many as 1,392 persons have registered so far for the mobile phone application that serves the electronic monitoring of compulsory home quarantine; the number of active users currently stands at 910, a staff member of the duty centre of the Operational Group responsible for the containment of the coronavirus epidemic said at an online press conference held on Sunday.

According to police Lt. Colonel Róbert Kiss’s information, on Sunday 1,038 compulsory home quarantine orders were issued, resulting in 11,934 such restrictive orders in total in effect at present. The police detected 30 violations during checks conducted on Saturday. The police have checked compliance with the rules of compulsory home quarantine since 12 March, and have taken action in 2,091 instances since.

He added that also on Saturday the police checked compliance with the protective measures in effect, including social distancing, the wearing of face masks on public transport and in shops, and the shopping hours reserved for the elderly. In the past 24 hours, the police have taken action in 24 instances due to the violation of these regulations, including 15 cautions, 8 onsite fines and one prosecution, he said.

Mr Kiss also highlighted that from 22 May the conditions of entry into Serbia had changed: Everyone who meets the general conditions of entry are allowed in. Therefore, every day between 8.00 p.m. and 12.00 p.m., transit passengers who only wish to travel through the country on the way to Serbia are allowed to enter Hungary at Hegyeshalom, Rajka and Tornyiszentmiklós. These travellers – who may only use designated routes, may only stop at designated rest areas and are required to leave the country within the shortest possible time – are able to exit Hungary for Serbia at Röszke and Tompa.

Regarding border traffic, the Lt. Colonel said on Sunday in cargo traffic on the exit side, there are delays of up to one hour at Röszke and on the entry side there is a one-hour delay at Csanádpalota. In passenger traffic on the entry side, there is a one-hour wait at Nagylak, while on the exit side there is a two-hour wait at Nagylak and one-hour delays at Csanádpalota and Záhony.

In answer to a question, he said agricultural workers have been allowed to enter the territory of Hungary since 7 May. Romanian guest workers may now also enter in groups at all border crossing stations. Up to Saturday midnight, 601 guest workers in 109 groups entered Hungary for this purpose, he added.
