Minister of Justice László Trócsányi met with his Norwegian counterpart Minister of Justice and Public Security Per-Willy Amundsen in Olso.

The Ministers agreed on the key importance of protecting the EU’s external Schengen borders, inclduing through clearly differentiating between refugees and migrants. The sovereignty of individual countries must be respected with regard to the latter. They determined that the situations of transit countries and target countries are different, and accordingly unique criteria are enforced in different countries, which must be taken into account. Minister Trócsányi informed his negotiating partner about the measures introduced with relation to the reinforcement of Hungary’s legal border barrier. Mr. Amundsen briefed the Hungarian Minister about how Norway’s participation in the resettlement system works in practice, and with relation to the practical realisation of readmission agreements concluded with third countries in the interests of readmission. Mr. Trócsányi invited his Norwegian counterpart to visit Hungary.
