Justice Minister László Trócsányi had talks in Paris with his French counter part Nicole Belloubet about the significance of justice cooperation in the European Union and, as part of this, the efforts made in the field of victim protection.
On Friday Mr Trócsányi told the Hungarian news agency MTI that he agreed with his French colleague that, in addition to a stringent penal policy, more emphasis should be laid on the protection of victims as well.
The Minister informed his French counterpart that new judicial procedures have been introduced in Hungary, while Nicole Belloubet briefed Mr Trócsányi on the measures implemented with a view to eliminating overcrowded conditions in prisons in France.
Mr Trócsányi invited his French colleague to Hungary; Mr Belloubet accepted the invitation.
During his two-day visit to Paris, the Hungarian Justice Minister met with Jean-Marc Sauve, Vice-President of the French State Council, with whom he reviewed the French regulations in place for the selection of public administration judges, and had talks with the Presidents of the European Affairs Committees of the National Assembly and the Senate.
Mr Trócsányi also met with President Emmanuel Macron’s diplomatic advisor with whom he discussed the most important issues currently on the agenda of the European Union. In the French Institute of International Relations the Minister delivered a speech entitled Hungary’s Geopolitical Situation and attended a debate forum.
