Prior to a public forum at a press conference in Bicske on Tuesday, Károly Kontrát, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Ministry of Interior, said that the latest plans for the Bicske reception centre are that it will close on 31 December 2016; therefore no more migrants are currently arriving at the camp.
Replying to a question from Hungarian news agency MTI, Mr. Kontrát said that it will not be necessary to open another camp elsewhere, due to the physical border protection strengthened by the new fence, the deployment of 3,000 new border patrol personnel and the application of strict legislative measures.
Mayor of Bicske Károly Pálffy (Fidesz-KDNP) thanked Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and the Government for considering the town’s request and deciding to close the camp.
