“8 April is a crucial day; we will not simply be deciding on the next four or eight years, but about the future of or children and grandchildren”, Minister of Human Capacities Zoltán Balog declared in Hódmezővásárhely.
At a street forum held jointly with Minister heading the Prime Minister’s Office János Lázár in the city’s Susán district, Mr. Balog said the country had set out from an extremely difficult situation, but that construction in Hungary is now in progress.
“This is what is in jeopardy”, he added.
He reminded those present that in 2015, despite unfair attacks, Hungary was the only country to firmly resist migration. “It is worth listening to the news and seeing what this means in countries where the immigrants are ‘already inside’, including terrorism, decreasing public safety and social problems”, he said.
The politician asked the audience to support Fidesz and its candidate, János Lázár, at the election, explaining that has seen his fellow politician’s work up close and that he has performed outstandingly with relation to restructuring public administration, in the interests of developing the country and the region, and also in Hódmezővásárhely as the city’s previous mayor.
In reply to a question, Mr. Lázár explained that the state must strive to guarantee physical and financial security for all old people. The politician said he regards himself as a “man of order” and will always support all efforts to tighten regulations, recalling that he was one of the submitters of the “three strikes bill” and had supported the increase in the number of police.
“There are 2.7 million pensioners living in Hungary, many with low pensions. They must be assisted through the reduction of utility costs, the reduction of VAT on basic foodstuffs, additional pension increases and vouchers”, the politician said.
“Today’s successes are without exception also due to the work of all pensioners. Not only should families receive tax benefits for having children and those children be given free school meals and textbooks, and their parents be awarded pay rises, but the grandparents must also receive assistance”, he said, adding that he will be a Member of Parliament who will support pensions increases, pension adjustments and vouchers for pensioners.
