Politicians, civil representatives, as well as religious and scientific leaders of eighteen countries acknowledged the Hungarian efforts according to which the future of Europe can only be built on families, Minister of State for Churches, Minorities and Civil Affairs Miklós Soltész said at the family day concluding the proceedings of the Budapest Demographic Forum on Saturday.
“If we can add a spiritual dimension to family support, I am certain that as the demographic situation is slowly improving in Hungary, so will in Europe, and meetings such as this one can serve to show that Hungary is a truly family-friendly country where it is worth having children”, Mr. Soltész said.
He added that while the new Hungarian family subsidies and material support programs are important, it is also crucial for families to pay attention to and support one another.
Deputy Minister of State for Family and Demographic Policies Tünde Fűrész said that participants at the forum agreed that families are key to solving the demographic situation. The aim of the forum was to discuss the family, economic and labour policy aspects of the issue and explore the possible solutions.
On Saturday, the forum ended with a family day, which hosted performances and family programs, book launches and exhibitions as well.
