Minister of Human Capacities Zoltán Balog and Veronika Skvortsova, Minister of Health of the Russian Federation had bilateral talks in Budapest yesterday.

Photo: Gyula Bartos/Ministry of Human Capacities The parties established at the meeting that the health care programmes of both countries lay a great deal of emphasis on screening tests and preventive measures. The Russian Minister told her Hungarian counterpart that in Russia they have been carrying out oncological and cardiovascular screening tests since 2013 with the participation of 23 million adults and all children. Mr Balog also informed the Russian Minister about the experiences of the mobile screening stations operational in Hungary, everyday physical education and the programme of healthy public meals.

Veronika Skvortsova reported on the operation of the 1,500 consultation centres which provide preventive consulting in relation to abortion. The Hungarian Minister informed his Russian counterpart that they are planning to set up similar centres in Hungary as well.

Mr Balog highlighted at the talks: it is a personal achievement of Veronika Skvortsova that the supply of medicines from Hungary to Russia has increased by 30 per cent in the past year.
