Minister of Human Capacities Prof. Dr. Miklós Kásler received Bangladesh’s Minister of Health and Family Welfare Zahid Maleque and Vape Verde’s Minister of Education Maritza Rosabal in his office on Friday. The ministers were in the Hungarian capital to attend the 3rd Budapest Demographic Summit.

The Bangladeshi health minister thanked Hungary for its involvement in the successful separation of a set of Bangladeshi Siamese twins in August. Also present at the meeting was plastic surgeon Dr. Gergely Pataki, who coordinated the operation, and is also Hungary’s Honorary Consul to Bangladesh.

The parties reviewed possible further directions for healthcare cooperation, with relation to which Hungary will primarily be able to provide assistance towards Bangladeshi development within the field of treating non-contagious diseases. “Hungary views contributing to the modernisation of African and Asian healthcare as extremely important, but we primarily wish to realise this through the transference of professional expertise, including with relation to the Hungarian oncological institution system”, Mr. Kásler emphasised.

Vape Verde’s Minister of Education Maritza Rosabal spoke with acknowledgement about the major improvement of relations between the two countries and welcomed existing cooperation projects, from among which she highlighted Hungary’s Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme and assistance with training music teachers with relation to the Kodály method. The Minister of Human Capacities pointed out: “Our musical traditions boast an extremely long history, and the Hungarian Government is glad to participate in the transfer of music teaching expertise”.
