Learning the German language has a cultural meaning for Hungarians, Minister of Human Capacities Zoltán Balog said on Friday in Budapest at a joint meeting of the World Federation of German Schools and the German School of Budapest.
Mr. Balog said that over the past decades German presence was very strong in Hungarian cultural policy and remained so after the regime change. The minister was a theology teacher at the German School of Budapest between 1991 and 1996.
Detlef Ernst, representative of the World Federation of German Schools said at the joint session that German schools around the world have to take into account and adapt to local specifics.
