Hungary, represented by Deputy State Secretary Szilveszter Bus, participated in the Summit of the Pacific Alliance for the second time.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó reassured Israel’s Ambassador to Budapest by telephone on Friday that the Hungarian Government has declared a policy of zero tolerance with regard to anti-Semitism. In a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI, Mr. Szijjártó said he had told Ambassador Yossi Amrani that the activities of Miklós Horthy as governor included both positive and extremely negative periods.
“Visegrád Group (V4) cooperation is based on trust and on shared values and interests”, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Minister of State for Cultural and Science Diplomacy said prior to a concert to mark the end of the Polish presidency of the V4 and the beginning of the Group’s Hungarian presidency at the Budapest Music Centre on Thursday.
“Hungary will always continue to stand by its own position despite international pressure, and will not allow illegal immigrants to set foot on its territory, while by protecting its southern border it will continue to protect Europe, because it regards the security of the country, and through it the security of Europe, as most important”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said during negotiations in Riga on Thursday.
“Hungarian enterprises have excellent export opportunities in the Uzbekistani economy, which is producing an enviable level of economic growth even in Asian comparison, namely within the fields of the food industry and animal husbandry technologies, the pharmaceutical industry and water management technologies”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI following negotiations in Tashkent.
“Hungary would like to develop even closer economic relations with the United States, in addition to which even more American companies would like to increase their investments in Hungary”, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Minister of State for Economic Diplomacy, Levente Magyar said following talks with a delegation from the US-Hungary Business Council (USHBC).
“Hungary has an opportunity to develop its cooperation with Kazakhstan particularly within the fields of the oil industry, agriculture and water management”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó told Hungarian news agency MTI in a telephone statement from Astana on Monday.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Press Chief, Tamás Menczer, there is no need to protect Hungarian academic freedom during the course of negotiations with the Governor of the State of New York State on the Central European University (CEU), because nobody is endangering it.
“Cooperation between the countries of the Visegrád Group (V4) is the strongest and most effective within the European Union, and has become a worldwide brand”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said on Kossuth Radio’s “Sunday Papers” program.
“Everything always reminds Martin Schultz, leader of the German social democrats (SPD), about Hungary, whereas he would do better to be concerned about his own party in view of the fact that they have suffered defeats on a total of three regional elections”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó told Hungarian news agency MTI in reaction to statements on Hungary by the German politician.
