Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó and Lieselore Cyrus, the new German ambassador to Hungary, described the development of economic cooperation between Hungary and Germany as unbroken on Wednesday, on the occasion of the introductory visit of the German diplomat, Judit Fülöp, press chief of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (KKM) told MTI.
At the meeting, it was underscored that the development of economic cooperation between Hungary and Germany was unbroken, which was shown by the 14% increase in Hungarian exports to Germany in the first half of this year and by the fact that Germany remained the biggest investor in Hungary. 6 000 German companies currently have 300 000 employees in the country.
According to the announcement, Mr Szijjártó said that the Hungarian Government would continue the ‘Opening to the East’ strategy, of which Germany was a good example as 43% of its exports went outside the EU. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade expressed his appreciation of Angela Merkel’s efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict to the German ambassador.
