The Third International Conference on Financing for Development was held in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia between 13 and 16 July 2015, with Hungary represented by Ádám Zoltán Kovács, Deputy State Secretary for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The aim of the conference, in which the UN Secretary-General took part, was to review the challenges encountered since the conferences on financing for development in Monterrey in 2002 and Doha in 2008, and to assess funds supporting international development cooperation and sustainable development. Two factors made this timely: the deadline for achieving the Millennium Development Goals at the end of 2015; and devising the Sustainable Development Goals and the framework for global sustainability based on these for the period after 2015 (the post-2015 agenda).
