Hungary is committed to the maintenance of freedom of navigation in international waters and the right of overflight in accordance with accepted principles of international law.

Maintaining regional security and stability in the South China Sea is of key importance. We are led by our conviction that disputes should be addressed in a peaceful manner by the countries concerned through direct negotiations.

Hungary does not take a position on various claims regarding the region.  Confidence building measures seeking to build trust and security in the region could contribute to the solution of the disputes, while external pressure and interference may have an adverse effect on the current situation.
